How to Add Visio to Office 365

  1. Firstly, tap on the App Launcher button and then on ‘Admin’ to open the Office 365 admin center.
  2. Select ‘Billing’ on the left-hand side and then ‘Purchase services’.
  3. Find Visio Plan 2 in the list of services.
  4. Click on the trial link.
  5. Click on ‘Try now’ and then on ‘Continue’.
  6. Choose ‘Users’ and then ‘Active users’ on the left-hand side of the Office 365 Admin center.
  7. Select the users to whom you want to apply the Visio subscription.
  8. Lastly, Edit the Product licenses and enable Visio.

Cons and Pros Of Office 365 Visio

A web-based, more manageable version of Visio called Visio in Microsoft 365 is currently free for Microsoft 365 business customers. Here are some salient features about it:

Fundamental Diagrams

Users of Microsoft 365 who have access to supported Visio can view and edit simple diagrams like flow charts.
– Block schematics
– Venn charts
– Pyramidal structures

Limitations

It lacks some of the functionality of the desktop Visio application, making it unable to view or edit more complicated diagram types (such software development plans and engineering diagrams).
– Visio on Microsoft 365 will indicate that it cannot open a complicated diagram that someone sends you.
– The legacy.vsd file format is not supported; only the.vsdx file format is. Visio Plan 1 or Plan 2 is required in order to work with.vsd files.
– Moreover, converted.vsd files (in the.vsdx format) cannot be opened.

Access:

Users on different commercial Microsoft 365 plans, such as Business, Enterprise, and Education plans, can access Visio in Microsoft 365. Although it’s not currently available in sovereign clouds like GCC, GCC High, or China, it is also accessible for non-profit SKUs (21Vianet).

Availability:

The free, light-weight Visio online app will be made available to all subscribers with commercial licenses starting in July.
